Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are extremely happy that the Department for Human Factors Engineering and Ergonomics has the honor to organize and host the 20th Anniversary of the European Society for Computing and Technology in Anesthesia and Intensive Care (ESCTAIC) at the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) between the 23rd and 26th of September 2009.
The initiative of ESCTAIC dates back to 1989 when a small group of technology and computing enthusiasts decided to organize a first exchange forum for clinical anesthesiology and technical disciplines, electronics, engineering and ergonomics. And over the years ESCTAIC proved to be very productive. Since then 20 successful meetings have been performed all over Europe - from Aalborg to Zurich including such fascinating locations as Glasgow, Palermo, Budapest, Trieste, London, Erlangen, Milano, Toulouse and Goldegg - attracting participants from all over the world - not only in America and Australia, but also in Asia and Arabia.
The more we are happy to host our society's 20th anniversary for the second time here in Berlin focusing on a systematic optimization (streamlining) of the patient treatment processes in ER, OR and ICU through innovative technological and computing solutions together with our four sister societies:
- The STA (USA) - Society for Technology in Anesthesia: www.anestech.org
- The SCATA (UK) - Society for Computers And Technology in Anesthesia: www.scata.org.uk
- The SFIMAR (France, Belgium & Luxembourg) - Société Francophone pour l'Informatique et le Monitorage en Anesthésie Réanimation: www.sitanest.net
- The JSTA (Japan) - Japan Society of Technology in Anesthesia: www.jsta.net
Based on their organizational and academic support we are extremely confident that we will be able to establish with this 20th Annual ESCTAIC Meeting an international exchange forum being even more attractive for scientists, clinicians and biomedical producers from all over the world than ESCTAIC's last meeting here in Berlin.
Therefore we would be extremely happy to welcome you at our department in September 2009 and are very much looking forward to you active participation.
